The classes are available for a range of students from kindergarten to high school.
The classes offered by the museum focus on the Defence of Westerplatte from September 1-7, 1939. The students will analyze the historical context of the Second World War and the events leading up to the legendary first battle. Students will benefit from an explanation of the defence itself and gain an understanding of what the Polish soldiers of the Military Transport Depot had to endure during those seven days. The classes will look at the life of soldiers before and after the invasion of Poland and the historical figures that were at the helm of these events. Studying the Defence of Westerplatte will allow the students to look at how Westerplatte has become a symbol over the years.
The classes will include interactive activities to ensure optimal knowledge retention and ensure the engagement of all students. The students will then take a tour of the battlefield to orient themselves on a historical site and make the stories come alive. The purpose of these classes offered by Westerplatte is to highlight the significance of the defence in a tangible way. By introducing students to the first battle of the Second World War, they gain a deeper knowledge of an event that has become renowned in the minds of people all over the world.
